worked like a dream on my cats!

( after we had to have the whole house treated by the pest control man!)

charliecat · 14/02/2008 12:22

it is It got rid of my cats infestation

pirategirl · 14/02/2008 12:23

it is the most wonderful, the MOST effective.!!

Work for me tho, seriously, just give it a few days, and kill as many as you can get hold of off the cat, to help it along.

I bloody hate them, is it that time again? must do my cat.

colditz · 14/02/2008 12:23

(Excellent, keep them coming, thanks guys!

LOL that you both have 'cat' names.

My vet gave me a new one which involves dropping some highly toxic stuff onto the skin on the back of thier necks. It does worms and fleas at the same time apparently. It was fantastic.

We also used Indorex around the house in case there was an infestation. It seems to have done the trick.

pirategirl · 14/02/2008 12:25

colditz that is an excellent idea, i have been looking for a name change!!!!

piratecat · 14/02/2008 12:27

ta da!!

charliecat · 14/02/2008 12:28

miaow

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 14/02/2008 12:32

Is Frontline only available to buy at the vets or can you get it in the supermarket/pet store? My kitty is also a flea bag at the moment, and the last lot of anti flea we bought seemed to do nothing!

charliecat · 14/02/2008 12:34

I saw it in the chemists yesterday

flossish · 14/02/2008 12:36

frontline works well for us. I'm usually crap at remembering when the month is up but prompted by the noise of the cat furiously scratching... works for us!

Crystaltipsandalaistar · 14/02/2008 12:45

i find it more effective to use the 4 weekly one rather than the 3 monthly one, seems to keep them away better.

thequietone · 14/02/2008 12:47

Amazing stuff. Had to fumigate house upon return from honeymoon (how romantic) because cat caught serious fleas. Once house was OK the Frontline did the rest of the work and, touch wood, 6 years on all been perfect (I do the monthly ones too).

luciemule · 14/02/2008 12:50

Don't go anywhere near it/or your pets if you're pregnant though.

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 14/02/2008 12:57

Oh gosh - why? I've been dosing cats all through pregnancy without even giving it a thought!

luciemule · 14/02/2008 13:19

There was a thread on here last year about a woman becoming really ill after being near frontline I think, if I remember correctly.

Someone else might remember the details but you have to be careful - I'd call the vet and ask what their advice is - the packet will probably just say something rather general and not give specific info.I do remember though, calling my sil and telling her as she uses it on their cat.

Lennsuey · 14/02/2008 13:55

I've been using something called Stronghold for our two cats which i get from the vets. It's applied monthly on the back of their necks for the treatment of fleas and also ear mites, roundworms & hookworms! Nice! Also comes with a handy pack of stickers for your calendar so you don't forget to treat the little darlings! Pleased to say 'Egg & Chips' have never had fleas and we've had them almost a year! Can't recommend it enough. I don't think products you get from pet shops are as good, the dosage is much weaker.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 14/02/2008 13:59

It's good stuff, we use it on our moggies to keep them clean of fleas. Although saying that the fleas around here seem to be pretty tenacious at the moment

Oh, and I think you can by it Online now.

colditz · 14/02/2008 14:13

I got it off the internet, it said on the packet "For vetinary use" so it's probably a decent dose. She's not tiny, she's about 6 months old, so not bad sized

heymammy · 14/02/2008 14:13

It's the only damn thing that works! My DM used to have a pure white cat and you could quite literally see the fleas falling off in droves

But you also must make sure you give the whole house a good hoover to stop them coming back.

flossish · 14/02/2008 20:17

where did you find it colditz? is it cheaper than the vets?

Iota · 14/02/2008 20:26

Cox and Robinson sell Frontline and yes it is cheaper than at the vets

WigWamBam · 14/02/2008 20:32

It's good stuff, colditz - although when we first started using it on our cat, it took two applications within a month to see any improvement.

I buy it over t'internet as well - miles cheaper, and no vet's consultation fee to add on. I use Petmeds, the 6 pack of Frontline is exactly the same stuff the vet used to prescribe and costs £15.22 - the vet used to charge £30.

colditz · 14/02/2008 21:23

I paid £18 inc. VAT for 6 ampules

It hasn't worked on our doggy. Have got some 'advocate' from the vets to try as two doses of frontline on, he still has fleas.

He had never had fleas before.

Growlydog is itchy dog again. Not allowed to use the advocate until a week after last use of frontline.
