Cockerpoo booked in to be spayed

Hello

Wondering if anyone had any advice or tips.
My little one year old Cockerpoo is booked in for the 4th April to be neutered (spayed).

This is my first time owning a dog so a new experience. She is such a wonderful dog, couldn't imagine life without her now.

A little nervous for her operation but I know it's better for her long run as no plans to breed.
I have taken some flexi from work to ensure I am home with her for aftercare.

Does anyone have any advice and tips? I know to avoid walks for a while but not much else!
Google has told me a bit about a surgical suit, any experience on items needed would be great.

Thank you

Mine slept mostly for the first few days. I secretly enjoyed the calmness. She was ok otherwise, healed really well and has had a good appetite ever since. She barely ate before.

Do get the surgical suit - it's like a baby gro. We had one and it stopped any interest in the stitches. It was brilliant. She did manage to gnaw the poppers off it though.

Our dog was a little lethargic the following day. And we made sure walks were gentle and short. She also got her fav of chicken and rice.
Extra cuddles and rest.

Our dog bounced back really quickly.

Is there an option to have key hole surgery?

Recovery is quicker and minimal stitches.

Dog will appear to whimper as anesthetic wears off, it's perfectly normal and nothing to worry about although it'll break your heart xx

I’d definitely recommend a surgical suit or 2. Much better than a cone and supports the wound.
My cockapoo slept all day after bringing her back from the vets and most of the next day. She bounced back quicker than I’d expected though, she did have it done keyhole so that might be why.

I’m glad I didn’t pay the £300 extra for keyhole as she was absolutely fine. Like I said, sleepy for a few days but that was probably for the best. She didn’t appear to be in any pain. I didn’t really walk her until I felt her energy coming back as she didn’t appear to need it.
Try not to worry, it will be fine. Oh and I also asked the vet to put a suit on. She left it alone and healed really quickly.

Thank you all
The vet never offered keyhole surgery and it's the vets for pets (the pets at home vets) but I will ask them about having a surgical suit. If I need to order I've seen I can get one on Amazon prime so for the next day.
We have made the most of the weekend with her favourite walks/runs to make up for this week of taking it very slow and hopefully her just sleeping it off a bit.
Hopefully quick recovery 🤞🏻

Another bite for keyhole surgery and surgical suits . If you. Any get a suit in time use a T-shirt put her head and front legs in it and tie the bottom after the wound . The main reason for post op complications is dogs licking and nibbling . Also a muzzle if she really starts to bother the area. Arnica pills help with the bruising just open the dispenser and pop one on her tongue every few hours for the first few days it helps with bruising . Don’t touch the pills though as the arnica is on the outside of the sugar pill just upend the container and click the bottom so pill goes into her mouth without you touching it . Finally her coat may change texture after time due to hormone changes
