Lab puppy- changed food now diarrhoea- everywhere!

When we got our now 5mth old lab puppy, he was being fed on bakers complete, which we have now decided to change as it doesnt seem one of the best foods. So bought james wellbeloved complete and started weaning him on to it slowly about 5 days ago. He is now on the JW twice a day with just a bit of bakers mixed in.

But since adding in the JW his poos have been sloppy (sorry tmi!) and the past 2 days he had pooped himself in his cage overnight (which he has never done before).

So now i dont know what to do-
Go back to the bakers for now?
or just buy a completely different food and start straight away?

Also, i was thinking of starving him today to let his tummy settle, or is he too young for that?

Thanks for reading, hope someone can advise, he is currently in kitchen waiting to be fed and I cant decide what to do!

Just been looking at their website here and notice they have an online shop now and charge £3 for delivery (this is new to me)- even that isn't bad - 61p per pack plus £3 delivery however much you order.

LMN- had to laugh at your hungry lab- mine is ALWAYS hungry & will upend anything trying to get to a tasty morsel underneath!!

We struggle to keep his weight down too- he loves swimming & it's the only thing we've found that exercises him enough without stressing his joints overly as he's a real "plodder" & won't move very fast!!

Ours loves swimming as well ....goes every day. And will do anything for food....including eating some pretty unsavoury things....as a 5 month old pup he had an upset tum quite frequently....a few stones and fridge magnets tend to sort that out

I have gone with your suggestion LMN, and ordered 2 boxes of the puppy one, see what he thinks of it.
I have actually still got him on chicken, rice and egg, think i will jst keep him on that until the new food comes, i dont really want to go back to the bakers now and change him about more than neccesary.

I am finding it quite easy to cook up food for him myself i haver just made a big batch of rice and got it in the fridg.

Re the labs eating anything and everything- wax crayons are interesting when they come out the other end!

Dead things under hedges! Lovely -

I dropped a slice of carrot on the floor the other day while cooking supper, he can hear food drop at 40 paces & shot over to get it. It rolled under the freezer & you should have SEEN the performance we had trying to get it out. He was DETERMINED his nose would fit under it & the freezer (upright) was quivering with the attempts to squeeze his schnoze in the little gap between the freezer & the floor!!! We were howling with laughter, he eventually gave up but sat & guarded it all evening, looking anxious everytime anyone went near in case they pinched "his" bit of treasure.

We took pity on him & pulled the freezer out before bedtime & got it out, I couldn't bear it!!!
