Rehoming reactive dog

I’ve had my dog since he was a puppy and he has always been reactive and a resource guarder.
We have worked with behaviourists for years and his reactivity has lessened and we managed the guarding.
We sadly have seen a relapse in his behaviour in the past few months and have a baby on the way. He has tried to bite us at least 6 times and it’s just been luck we haven’t been caught.

He has been offered a place at a sanctuary for dogs with behavioural issues. Rural location, socialised with other dogs and walked 6 times a day. The rest of the time is kennels. It’s likely he would spend his life there as he has bitten he probably wouldn’t find a home. Our only other option is to have him PTS which I really don’t want to do.

looking for reassurance it’s not cruel and advice!

I have a rescue dog who is reactive and will bite if scared/cornered but is absolutely lovely the rest of the time. I'd be going for the rescue in Snowdonia, do you have a friend/family member you really trust who could take him there for you? Mine hates kennels so wouldn't suit him (other dogs barking is a trigger for him) but if yours is fine at kennels for hols it will be fine.

DSis had a reactive dog who adored going to kennels and seemed to thrive on the routine so not all dogs hate them.

Best wishes, hope you can sort something.

Hi all I really need some help,
we got our dog 7 years ago when it was just the 2 of us, he is a border collie and he’s been a great dog except for the fact he is uncontrollable on the lead and reactive towards children (we paid hundreds trying to train him but in the end was told it it’s just his breed)
when we had our twins we hoped that he would accept them and treat them like he does with us but he just hates them he wont even be in the same room as them on 2 occasions now he has snapped at their face for just trying to touch him. It’s been nearly 2 years and it’s just getting worse and worse he’s territorial over the back door so I can’t have any doors open in summer or let my babies play in the back garden, I can’t let them in the kitchen when it rains because he’s in there and he barks and growls at them from inside his crate if I put him in there. But we don’t have the time to walk him as much anymore, because I can’t walk him on a lead I can’t walk him with my children, so the window of time when I can walk him is so small due to our working shifts I’m on my own a lot.
So my decision was to rehome the dog to somebody that has the time for him and a house with no young children but my boyfriends parents said you can’t do that so offered to take the dog, then went on holiday for 2 weeks then came back and changed their mind so then they have all said I’m not getting rid of the dog so the only other option is for me and the children to move out and I just don’t know what to do I’m so sad. I can’t go on living in fear of the dog biting the babies. But I feel like my whole family is against me and would choose a dog over their grandchildren and have no regard for their children and grandchildren’s saftey. We could carry on living keeping the dog in a crate but I don’t think that is fair on the dog so although it is so sad to rehome him it’s sad keeping him in a crate all the time when he should be living with someone that has time for him.
so right now I am living in limbo not knowing if I am Rehoming the dog or if my partner is going to leave me and I’ll have to find a home for me and my 2 year old twins.
am I wrong in this Situation?
