Insurance for Conure [parrot]

Just had my renewal quote for [nearly] 6 year old conure. Does anyone bother with insurance for theirs? Is it really worth it?

I have insurance for our dogs, but people generally spend more keeping their dogs 'around' than their birds, I suspect? Apologies if that annoys bird lovers - I'm not really - he's my husband and son's bird. It's just my general impression.

birds don't tend to roam and get injured whilst walking outside.

they still need regular vet visits and claw and possibly beak trimming.

and birds can live a long time.

I had a conure and we didn't insure him - it was very expensive and tbh because when they become ill they hide it so well, I was under the impression that by the time you realise and get them to a vet there's often not a lot can be done for them at that point anyway...

Thanks. I think on balance, I'll cancel the insurance. Like you say - he only flies around the living room every so often [dogs are always locked away when he's out, I hasten to add!]. We don't actually have a local bird vet [unless I've missed one] but his claws and beak are kept in trim with a cuttlefish bone and a couple of rough covers on his perches.
