My 3 Month old kitten won't play with her toys

I got a kitten who is 3 months old. When she came to her new home she just hid under my shoe rack at the rotten of my stairs. Now she moves from room to room sitting on window ledges, she doesn't seem interested in playing with her toys or using her scratching post even tho she scratches at the carpet. I try to interact with her but she just stares at me. When Im not around she meows especially at night she will come in my room meowing while staring at me, but whenever I try follow her or see what she wants she runs away.
any suggestions on what I should do? ps I'm a new cat mom also.

Just let her be! Not all animals like toys, let her settle & do her own thing

gamerchick · 05/12/2022 11:55

Do you play with her?

KiaPlumBob · 05/12/2022 11:58

I try to but she doesn't seem interested and won't let me touch her or anything

How long have you had her?

To start with they are often very over stimulated just by the new environment and everything to see. It can take a while before they have the headspace for toys!

She's 3 months old but I got her on Friday 02/12

Oh yeah way too early, she’s still settling. Give her time and space, she’ll get more confident I’m sure, she’s probably still a bit shy and scared.

Kittens should ideally be with their mother until 12 weeks of age. That's when they learn to play, pounce and hunt. It sounds as though your kitten has missed those vital first lessons. Try a fishing-rod type of toy.

You have only had her 3 days Grin She is just getting her barings, everything is new to her and she is away from her Mum and litter mates. Just leave her be and she will come to you when she is ready.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 05/12/2022 12:07

She's still settling in. Just give her space and let her come to you in her own time. The fact that she isn't hiding is a good sign.

KiaPlumBob · 05/12/2022 12:08

Thank you I will try that.
She was with her mother until she came to me though.

I'm worried because her previous owner hasn't taken her to the vet, do I wait until she comfortable with me and I can touch her to take her to the vet?

She is beautiful 😍

Yes she will need to go to the vet for her injections, I dont know at what age they are supposed to have them though, sorry. She will also need to be lead and wormed but you can do that yourself at home, again I dont know what age they should first be treated.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 05/12/2022 12:20

Flead!

Bestcatmum · 05/12/2022 12:21

She will, she just needs to settle in, she's just sizing up her new home right now.
I had a cat who would watch me dangling the toy then go straight for my hand and savage it 😂

Sprouttreesareamazing · 05/12/2022 12:25

You do know another dkitten is the best way forward?

YetAnotherSpartacus · 05/12/2022 12:31

Is there another dkitten in the second photo, back right?

KiaPlumBob · 05/12/2022 12:35

in the second picture it was taken at her previous owner home.
I do not have another kitten

She looks like a tree dweller. Feels more comfortable up a height rather than on the floor. Maybe a cat tree that's at a decent height so she can look down will help her feel more comfortable.

Sprouttreesareamazing · 05/12/2022 13:10

Is there a reason you didn't get 2?

KiaPlumBob · 05/12/2022 13:18

This is my first cat so I didn't want to be in over my head having 2
