Should I get a kitten

my Little girl loves animals (she has rabbits at her dads) but she’s always wanted her own kitten. I’m meant to be picking kitten up tonight but I’m really undecided. Please help me decide. Below is my pros and cons.

Pros
DD is now 7 and very sensible with pets
she would be besotted
I think it’s lovely for children to grown up with pets and makes a house homely.

cons
We go on lots of days out/ holidays and would feel it wouldn’t be fair on kitten
busy road out the back of mine but very very high fence to get to it - so thinking home cat. There’s also cats in the area who fight so wouldn’t want him/her to go out.

Any help would be appreciated :)

Cats don't care so much about being left as dogs do. As long as our two get fed on time they're not that bothered. Find a good cattery near you or a cat sitter for holidays.

My Son and his Girlfriend have just got a kitten he's very cute as kittens are and like all kittens he's either running around at 100 miles an hour or zonked out, they do need a bit more attention but as they get older can pretty much amuse themselves, I've had a few Cats over the years from a Cattery SO I know how having a kitten can be more of a challenge as they will automatically scratch and nibble at anything that moves BUT they are cute and it's a personal choice really 😉😊

How old is the kitten? Please be aware it will most likely go through a bitey/scratchy phase where no hand or foot is safe! This usually passes by the time they're one but it can be quite challenging.

It's also not uncommon for them to freak out and hide under the furniture for a few days when they are first rehomed.

They'll come out and explore eventually, but it can be disappointing and worrying for kids who are excited and expecting cuddles and play from day 1.

No, get two!

I agree that cats need much less human interaction than dogs, but that's going on my experiences of cats that have access to outside. I'm not sure if the same is true of young, indoor cats.

Are you able to get two together from the same litter? I've always had two at a time- I have no idea whether it actually makes the cat happier, but it makes me feel better!

I wouldn't get a kitten with the intention of it being a house cat. It's generally not fair. They'll get over any size of fence so you'll have to secure it properly which can be expensive

What happened? Did you get the kitten?
