love birds normally only have 1 mate for life! I dont think you can replace that mate, so it may be worth seperating and asking your local pet store, or maybe your vet?

I hope this helps

Firstly, are you sure it's a male? Some breeds of lovebirds are extremely difficult to sex, it normally has to be done with dna checking of the feathers, and if it is another female you are never going to get them to live together I'm afraid.

If you are sure it is a male then you need to know that lovebirds are extremely territorial and can and will kill a bird that invades their cage. Beg, steal or borrow a new cage and putting them into that shoudl help, as well as putting new toys but if you can't do that take them both out of the cage they are in (trap them in a room where they can't harm themselves or get out) and thoroughly clean it, move the bars, toys and bowls around and put it bakc in a slightly different place or facing a different direction, that should confuse her long enough to stop her attacking him for 'invading' and they will ge used to each other.

We have 2 'forced' couples, one of which was with previous mate for 5 years, and they have all laid eggs with their new partners so it can be done.

It is also always handy to have another small cage if you need to buy one to put them in temporarily, we have a little one for canaries, you can use it as a hospital cage if one gets sick or for transporting them to a vet. They will be okay in a small cage for half an hour or so if you keep the room dark.
