Just curious how many keep their cats locked in at night and how many roam free?

She stays in our kitchen at night. She loves her comfy bed and has food there and a litter box (she rarely uses it). We have a lockable microchip cat flap so we set it to 'in' at about 10.

I keep them all in at night.

I’ve had cats for over 40 years. They have all been free to come and go at will, via the catflap, without incident.
My current Madam likes to be out hunting mice and voles day and night - my garden backs on to barley fields and a small stream. She is most active at dawn and dusk, but will often nip out in complete darkness. She rarely uses her litter tray, preferring to toilet outside, so needs 24/7 access.

Ours would not be happy if we tried to keep her in at night. That's when the mouse-catching is done! Most nights she is in for at least some of the time, but not all, and it's her choice.
She likes to go outside for a good chunk of the evening, and we have no way of getting her back (she doesn't respond to calling, treat rattling or any other noise) so her movements are completely up to her.
