ok i have ds (6) and dd(2) and we are currently ttc

so have had female cat for six months and she is lovely really well behaved no scratching the odd little nip when the kids are heaby handed but not enough to actually hurt them iykwim

she is currently sleeping in the living room, as in the early hours of the morning she will climb uder the covers and attack your feet (she's just being playful but i do not find it funny at four in the morning)

she hasn't been out yet as she isnlt being spayed until thursday this week

what do i need to think about buying if i do find out i'm pregnant (this is the first cat i have had) i know i will need nets for the cot etc

please could i have some advice

we didnt have nets for the cot or the pram

you dont need anything

the only thing you have to do is tell dh he is to clean out the litter tray from now on

yes do make sure that you don't clean out the litter try.
My friend had two cats when her DD was born and didn't have nets and everything was fine.
My DS is a year old and I have only just felt comfortable enough to get another cat, and I got an old cat. If I had cats when DS was born, I think I would have got nets for peace of mind. But I am a worrier anyway!

You won't need anything extra. The only interest our cats showed our ds, was trying to sneak into his nursery - but only because they knew they weren't allowed in there.

You def don't need nets or any other protection. Most cats with a bit of sense will run a mile from a squeaky baby. Both of mine certainly did. One still gives DD a wide berth 2 years on (though the other one will let her do anything).

I second getting someone else to clean out the litter tray, although you're more likely to get toxoplasmosis from salami than from cats, but still, better to be safe than sorry.

I have two cats and bought cat nets for my dd's pram and cot, but have never used them. The cats won't go gone anywhere near dd- especially now she's crawling and likes to pull tails.

good was a little worried about it, she's a lovely cat ds picks her up and carried her around like a baby and she loves it, will let him do anything to her although she;s not as keen on dd

dh will not clean out the litter tray he didnt really want a cat and i promised he wouldnlt have to have anything cleaning feeding wise for her when we got her - could i not just wear rubber gloves - one she starts going out it won;t be that bad anyway will it?

I think rubber gloves is fine.

When I was pregnant I used it as an excuse to not clean out the hamster cage so DH did it! Cheeky, huh?
