My cat is a nervous and is scared of my 9 month old dd, however she does love to cuddle up to any human female she can find. She has never tried to cuddle my dd but has walked up her once when dd was in bed with me.
Since dd arrived my cat has been shut in the sitting room at night. The only problem is that I live in a fairly small house and the only heaters are in the sitting room and hall. If the sitting room door is shut then the rest of the house gets really cold. If I shut my dd's bedroom door, that room gets really cold.
My dh keeps insisting it's time we let the cat out the sitting room and she won't go into my dd's room. So for the last couple of nights I've slept in dd's room with the door open.
The cat slept in the sitting room, but came into the room in the morning when she wanted fed. She didn't jump up just sat inside the door and stared at me.
I'm moving back into my own room tonight but am really paranoid. What do other cat people thinks? If my small but fat cat went into my dd's cot could a she smother a 9 month old?
