Hi all

I have two lovely cats 6 and 4, not aggeressive in anyway however dont go outside, are used to having free reign of the house. DP and I are Going to be TTC soon-ish and was wondering if any of you have taken any action in a similar sitch as obv this will mean that they wont be able to go in certain rooms on certain furnature because fo there fur. Would you just shut them out of one bedroom or all? also what about toys, playpens etc that will be downstairs?

any help appreciated.

Bumoing for you. I have no advice, suffice to say my son painted our cat with gloss when he was 2.
So I am not really qualified to answer

The day we found out we were expecting DS1 we stopped the cat from sleeping on our bed. She had a lovely beanbag but would scratch at our door for a few days before she got the message. We always kept the babies room door shut and when we brought him home we let her smell him under supervision. She was 7 when he was born and she was fine.

we have 2 cats, both neutered males 3 yrs old. tbh we didn't take any action prior to ds being born although we did think about it. They were always allowed to go wherever they wanted, slept on our bed at night etc etc. Now they are shut in the kitchen at night (it's a HUGE kitchen dining room and leads onto the bathrooms so actually they are shut in half of the house). Actually maybe we started to do that while I was still pregnant.

Either way I think it was pretty evident to them that any changes came about because of the baby, whether or not we did them before he came along. They're not that stupid

Apart from that.. we didn't make any other changes. I freaked out several times when I found one of our cats sleeping in the babies cot (he was still in a moses basket) during the day but despite my best efforts I couldn't deter him. He eventually stopped of his own accord probably once I stopped paying attention to him for doing it (yes I supernanny my cats ). they used to jump up on the sofas but don't do that much anymore, I think mainly because we never seem to stop long enough for them to come get comfy, and if we aren't there, they aren't interested.

Poor things, they definitely suffered when ds was first born but we've had no problems with how they are around him and they don't seem any worse for it.
