What to feed my kitten?

I adopted a kitten in November last year, he was tiny and the lady I got him from was nice in herself but it came to light that she had lied about their age, being de-flead/de-wormed and she told me she'd only been feeding the kittens adult gocat biscuits as "the vet told her that little food was just a money making scam" I don't know if this is true? I thought kitten food had extra in it as they need it. Anwyay... I was giving a pouch of wet food and a bowl of biscuits. He was eating wet food and then stopped. Now he only eats the jelly or licks the gravy off the chunks. I've tried about 4 different brands and is still the same. He will eat dry food, had to try a couple of different brands of that too, but tends to eat the bigger chunks (whiskas biscuits) first and then later will eat the smaller bits.
He's around 5 months old.
TIA
Do I just give him biscuits? Do I still keep offering wet food and let him eat the jelly/gravy? Does anyone have any suggestions on what to give him?

That's not true. Kittens (& nursing queens) should be fed kitten food, as they are growing and need different nutrition to adult cats. Is he neutered? I'd feed kitten food until then, and then gradually switch to adult food.

Go-Cat is pretty crap & I really would not recommend it (vets I used to work with said it was often seen in cases of urinary issues, blocked bladders etc).

A mix of wet and dry (we feed Hills dry and Applaws wet) is usually best. Look for a complete diet.
For wet food, if he doesn't like chunks, try pate or foods that are in broth (we use applaws in broth for this reason).

This website is a good source of info on cat ownership, there's guidance on choosing food too: icatcare.org/advice/feeding-your-cat-or-kitten/

@AwkwardPaws27 I got him neutered about 2 weeks ago, so can I start moving him slowly onto adult now at 5/6 month? I had looked at paté and also "cat soup" as I thought he would maybe prefer that, but all the ones I've seen say they are for adult cats so I wasn't sure.
I haven't used gocat since I got him as someone had told me it was bad since they changed the recipe or something. Just recently I heard whiskas is also not very good either. He's an indoor cat too.

Thank you I will check out those options and the website :)

We feed our 6 month old Mac's kitten, Applaws kitten and Orijen cat and kitten dry food. I think they're meant to stay on kitten food until they're a year old.
