He's about 9 1/2 I think. The last year or so he just seemed to be getting dirtier and dirtier, dribbling all the time and his breath really started to smell. I took him to the vets and they removed a lump from his mouth and all but two of his teeth . The lump was fine, nothing to worry about.
Initially we saw a vast difference in him, he was brighter and started washing again but he went downhill quickly. Sitting around, not interested in much and dribbling with his tongue hanging right out. We took him back, more antibiotics. Same things happened again, took him back, antibiotics. Its been about 2 months now since he the op.
It is quite hard to get him to eat the tablets. He refuses to eat on his own, and if I feed him with the other cats I cant be sure he's getting his bit. Its a case of feeding them and quickly throwing the powder on the bit he's eating tbh. I do watch them to make sure he gets as much of it as possible.
Anyway, he's going downhill again. He's really lovely and so affectionate but noone can stand him near them with the dribbling. Its a real shame. His mouth is sopping wet and filthy all around it. Earlier this week he peed on the living room floor and this morning he'd pooed on the floor. He hasn't done that since he was a kitten.
Im wondering if it might be kinder to get him put to sleep. He's already cost me over £250 that ive killed my credit card for and all they keep doing is throwing more antibiotics at him. I really dont want to have to do that but I dont have a bottomless pit of money. Does anyone have any suggestions?
