Just how easily does Kennel Cough spread and could this be it?

On Wednesday I took my dog to visit the place that he'll be satying when we go on holiday in a few weeks.

It belongs to a friend of a friend. She used to run a kennels/cattery business but gave it up a couple of years ago and now only accomodates pets of friends and family on very odd occasion.

When we visited there was one dog in residence. It appeared happy and healthy and although I stroked it my dog took offence at it (dunno why) and refused to say hello.

Today my little fella has been snuffling a bit. Almost a sneeze but not quite IYSWIM. He's not producing any snot and seems well but I'm anxious that it could be the beginnings of something.

I don't want to go to the vet without good reason as I'm broke til next week (7 days and counting!) but on the other hand I don't want to leave it if you think it may develop into something serious.

Also do you think he should have the kennel cough vaccine before his holiday even though he'll be the only dog there? Can the virus survive in the environment without dogs being present?

Sorry to waffle.

TIA.

yes, get the vaccine - stopped my mums dog having KC every year she's had it; she is a working dog in a dog training school though so comes in to contact with LOTS of dogs and pups that may potentially carry the KC illness.

If he starts sneezing more, I think a trip to the vet may be needed

Thanks for that Lewisfan.

Can they catch it without contact with other dogs though? He will be the only mutt there when he goes. So if it's not necessary I won't vaccinate him.
