we only got him on saturday and he is between 6-8 weeks.

he is outside in the out house and we bring him in after school to run around the house and let the kids play with him, so far he has been crapping all over his hutch (not in the one corner or anything) and when we bring him in he leaves a trail behind him all over my carpets (being a clean freak i am not enjoying this)

what is the best way to try and train him for in the house, my sisters friends rabbit is trained so i know it is possible!

that is so cute! i had a rabbit few years back but she was bit nasty! used to bite your ankle when you wore jeans!??

We've got a house rabbit. I tried to get him to go downsatirs but he insisted on going in the bathroom - 2 boys, piss all over the floor, can't blame him. He was hit and miss at first with weeing in the wrong place but after he was neutered he was fab. He mainly goes in his litter tray in the bathroom now but does the odd sly poo under my bed at night. Typical male.

pointy it is possible to train rabbits because they are naturally clean and tidy creatures and will instinctively go in one place, because in the warren it doesn't do to have your poo all over.
I have successfully housetrained a few rabbits. tbh they are pretty intelligent and if you look after them well they are very like puppies.
that said, although they are pretty reliable in their weeing, the odd poo will inevitably pop out from time to time. I am pretty unoffended by bunny poos though, they are small and hard and pelletty and not in the least offensive imo.
but I am not a clean freak

oh sorry meant to say kittylette's post is a good way of going about things.
I used an ordinary litter tray. also, get your bunny neutered, sharpish otherwise there may be spraying. there may also be foot humping

pointydog · 23/11/2007 22:39

oh no I couldn't be doing witj foot humping

CharlesandEddie · 23/11/2007 22:41

we are having trouble with our rabbit actually!!! sorry to hijack...she keeps weeing on dd's duvet
we have boil washed it and changed it but she keeps on doing it...any advice??

cornsilk · 23/11/2007 22:43

My rabbit used to do this! I think it was cos he still wet the bed and he could smell the wee as he never did it on ds1's bed. We used to have to shut the door all the time to keep him out. Now he doesn't do it any more and ds doesn't wet. Maybe no link there but that's what I thought it was.

CharlesandEddie · 23/11/2007 22:56

thanks for that cornsilk
so at least your rabbit stopped - i am worried she will always go there..

dd is 13 and not wet the bed - i hope

if i prevent accees for a while hopefully the habit may be broken

cornsilk · 23/11/2007 22:58

Yes I would do that. I think it is something to do with our scent though. One day I found the rabbit madly licking dh's pillow! He didn't even wash it - ewww!

DrBunsentheHarpsichordCarrier · 23/11/2007 23:06

do not let your rabbits into your bedrooms are you all mad!
they are bound to pee everywhere. too much scent, too confusing
bless their funny little bunny socks.

PaulaYatesbiggestfan · 23/11/2007 23:08

DrBunsentheHarpsichordCarrier · 23/11/2007 23:09

cornsilk · 23/11/2007 23:09

Mine sleeps uner my bed. I can't make him go anywhere else. He's too cute and he gnaws at the door.

PaulaYatesbiggestfan · 23/11/2007 23:21
