Hi all,

I am looking for advice from those of you who have had a dog before a new baby comes along.

Ours is a bit of a princess and has been slightly put out that she now has to share the attention she used to have 100% of the time.

Now our LO is crawling (fast) she keeps out of her way and sometimes leaves the room for a bit of her own space. She doesn't show any interest let alone affection and can actually act quite jealous (never aggressive).

Fine by me if she wants to have her own space when baby's around and I'd rather that than she feel uncomfortable.

But, I must say I'd hoped they would be friends one day and I wondered if any of you have any ideas for how to hold a positive relationship between these two?

I wouldn't like to force anything of course, and I know not all dogs love children but i hope to help ddog see it's not all bad having a new baby sis!

I have a dog. He's 13. He's got a lot better with my 9 month old daughter. He pretended she didn't exist for the first 6 months, now he let's her pet him and he occasionally licks her.

Thank you for your reply. My dd is the same age though our dog doesn't seem to have improved in this time Confused
