One kitten had an accident as kids had shut them in our room.

Cleaned it all up, washed everything, then this morning the other one came in our room, jumped on bed and did a poo! bleurgh - what can I do??? have locked all the bedroom doors and can keep cats downstairs at night but hard in day as living room has open plan gap not a door!

thanks!

I have experience of cats pooing on beds - for preference, the little sods.

What do you want to know exactly? How to prevent it happening again? Keep the door shut! Do they soil anywhere else?

My cat used to do this, but only when he was locked in the house (pre-catflap days). I think he once or twice did it to prove his territory coz he didn't like my ex-DP!

Lock them out of the room. Better still, get a catflap if the kittens are old enough. When they jump up on the bed, squirt them with a water squirter every time they jump up so they end up not wanting to jump up, IYSWIM.

yes, want to know how to stop her! have shut all the doors and they are going to be locked downstairs at night! first thing I did was open the catflap and boot them out (not literally!)

good idea about the sprayer

they've been brilliant so far and only ever used their litter tray

hmmm sounds like she needs a short sharp shock to stop her getting into the habit of doing it on the bed. Do you just have the one cat? Is her litter tray kept immaculate? Cats can be very finnicky about their trays if it's not kept clean. Also, make sure her tray isn't too close to where she eats because cats dont like that either

tray is a big one shared by them both (litter sisters) and I get rid of the poo as soon as they do it (or as soon as I see it). I get out the wee-soaked stuff every morning and I totally change the litter and wash it every 2-3 days...

she has been out of the house since this morning, popping in and out for meals will she start going outside? how do I make her go outside?

ha ha - looks like a pun, "litter sisters" - in both senses, lol.

tray is in a differnt room (downstairs loo/utility room) to food

Definitely second the bit about putting the litter tray well away from the food. In another room if possible. I thought that was a bit of nonsense when I first heard it, but my kittens were quite bad soilers and, apart from cleaning up all their accidents with a foul smelling special cleaner which is supposed to put them off using the same place again, the one thing that really worked for me was moving the position of the litter tray.

Also, yes, if they are going outside now, you should find they quickly prefer doing it outside.

If they've started going outside today, then hopefully she will find it much more favourable than doing it on your bed. It's amazing how different a cat can be when they start going out!

Good luck and keep us posted!
