we have been given a nearly 2yr old staffi she is lovely, but very thin her previous owner gave her the following for a days meal
bowl of sugar puffs (breakfast)
2 cans dog food (lunch time)
1 can (dinner time)
bannanas and apples for snacks

we are not happy to continue this we are aware that it will take some time to change her meals

so was wandering really what you feed your dog and the amounts my moms dog always had dry complete biscuits so very different to what rosie has. thanks in advance

Our Great Dane is on Science Plan dry dog food - the Large Breed Senior version. It is rawther expensive!

You may find you need to mix a dry food with some canned to make it more palatable. For a Staffie, a chicken & rice based diet might be good.

And discuss it with your vet - have you taken the dog in for a check-up, micro-chip, outstanding vaccinations etc? It would be a good opportunity to talk about Staffies in particular and how to change the diet over and how to fatten her up safely - don't let them push you into using the brand they sell though!

After much experimentation, Burns chicken and rice, twice a day.

My 8mth pup is on Royal canin junior with a thrid of a tin of puppy food once a day and a few scraps. (he's a NSDTRetriever and is 17kg) When he's fully grown I'll probably put him on Chappie meat with a working dog dried food, as he does work with me and chappie is a good food, great for controlling weight and sensitive tummies, its the only thing one of my previous dogs could stomach as she got older, recommended by the vet, and we had a rescue dog on it, recommended by the centre, contains alot of cereals.
Although your dog is going back to her bowl this doesn't mean she's not been filled up, she may just be geedy - mines always checking his bowl and has enough food!
I wouldn't buy your wormer from a supermarket, they aren't as effective as the ones you get from the vets and might not get rid of all the worms, I'd take her to your vet and they'll give you some advice about the dogs weight and will be able to give you a good wormer.

Mine both have half a pouch of wet food twice a day with some mixer mixed in to it. They also have raw carrotts and apples to munch on during the day.

Ocasionaly (Once or twice a month) they will have a lamb leg bone each, but only a small one that my mum does for sunday lunch.

I feed both my dogs home cooked meals due to one of them having a sensitive stomach - I feed them on fish/chicken (bought frozen from PetsMart in blocks and microwaved) with fresh vegetables, brown bread, boiled egg, pasta, rice together with a dog vitamin tablet which includes all the vitamins they need plus glucosamine. This is mixed in with loads of water and a handful of dog biscuits (Bakers Meaty Meals). My eldest dog is 12yrs old and she is fighting fit and very agile so I must be getting something right!!!
