Can animals sense you are pregnant?

Just that really. Can dogs and cats sense your pregnant? My cat keeps coming to stay in my bedroom and is being a lot more affectionate towards me not sure if it's because it's rubbish weather and cold most of the time or cause she knows? Wasn't sure if this was true or not 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think they can, based on my experience.

Yes.My old girl staffie collected loads of shoes in her bed as if she had a litter. She also hid away when I was due to give birth.

Looking back on how she was acting I'm convinced my dog knew before I did.

My mum's cat was living with me when I was pregnant with ds1, he definitely changed his behaviours towards me. Towards the end he would pat the bump with his paws when the baby was very active and he was snuggling with me, as if my belly were a big toy for him. And he was oddly gentle.

I believe so. When I was pregnant with DS1 our cat suddenly started curling up next to my tummy. This was before I realised I was pregnant.

Usually the cat would lay on my head !

Yes definitely. I spotted my car start pulling out her fur on her back when I was 5 weeks pregnant (before I even knew) and thought it strange. She then pulled a strip of fur off her back and it was there for my full pregnancy then she immediately stopped when DS was born and was fine after that- it all grew back! She didn't do it with my DD later on. Very odd!

Not my car, my cat 🐈 😂

My little Yorkie (rest in peace Toby), kept laying on my belly protectively, Yorkies are usually known for being lap dogs he wasn’t like that so I thought it was odd, shortly after I discovered I was expecting.

Definitely! Our old girl started peeing everywhere and was diagnosed with a UTI brought on by stress. She had to go on special food and antibiotics. TBH she never bonded with DS. They seemed to just agree to ignore one another.

My cat used to attack me and everyone she was badly treated before I got her. Once I was pregnant she was the kindest loving cat ever. It was amazing I’m sure she knew. I think she also knew I was didn’t want her near the little one as I didn’t trust her due to her previous attacks and she never set foot near my little one . But I always made sure she got extra love because of it. Really miss her now
