Poor little thing si only just over a year, in that time he has lost a leg / tail / part of his jaw due to abuse, and is now having emergency surgery for a urinary blovkage . he satrted behaving weirdly last night, called the vets today and they wouldn't see him before 5.40- we nearly turned that down as DH should have been in work! Fortuantely Dh ahs gone in late, as if we had waited until the morning he would have died. I BEGGED vets assistant on phone to see him he was clearly in that much pain!

Send him your thoughts / prayers please- he's a lovely fellow

£300! that is a blow.

Well would have been worth every penny but.... he was only with them 6 hours! Still we would have paid double for him to make it, i think Dh is more grieving through anger iyswim. Amazing how hard the loss of a pet can be. probably healthy for the boys, better to encounter death like this- where you can say goodbye to a et in your own home, and write letters to be buried with them- than in a hospital with a Grandparent or whatever.

i remember so many pet deaths as a child as we lived on a busy road [where i myself was later hit on my bike] where we lost about five cats in six years. But then we moved and I had the same cat for 21 years, died of old age a few years ago. It is a learning experience for your boys, and are you thinking of getting a new one? Might help their loss in the long run.

We have a much older moggy- also a rescue cat- and I'm sure we will get another, although as ever we will wait for one that really needs us, we've also found another vet- our childminder mentioned similar issues with getting an appointment prior to her dog dying in their care, that's enough for us! And she recommended another one further away but better.

Peachy. So sorry to hear this. We had our cat put to sleep earlier this year and it still hurts now. Just tried to view your pics but can't get in.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends, so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together.

Thank you for that- have printed it off. Don't think my pg hormones are helping either tbh, making me extra protective. I did have a strong feeling he was with me alst night, and when Dh got home from work this morning (he sued to sleep with us)- Dh thinks I am nuts but it helps to think he knows we didnt abandon him in the vets, so I choose to beleive it.
