Any Cat experts out there? I really think my cat has brain damage!

He doesn't walk well all his legs are 'bad' vet thinks it is congenital but I'm not so sure when he was a very young kitten (we've had him since he was born) he was just as active as his brother but his mother always left him behind and set up nests around the house without him. He has always been odd but just recently I've started to think that there's something else wrong with him, he wees and poos wherever he fancies, which I've always put down to his poor mobility, he's now set up his bed in his cat tray complete with wee and poo and today I watched him just wee and then go back to sleep! My Ma thinks he needs a proper bed but he's had proper beds and just wees in them! Is this very unusual behaviour? What can I do about it, he's becoming too hard to care for. Thanks if you got this far!

Is it possible he has spinal damage? That could account for both his walk and incontinence.

That isn't normal behaviour. Cats won't normally wee/poo where they sleep.

I would see if you could get him checked out be another vet. It may not necessarily be brain damage, but sounds like there could be another problem there.

I don't think he's incontinent, he positions himself to do it, he just does it anywhere and everywhere, he's been in the garden for a couple of weeks in the summer, (he can't get out of the garden so can't come to any harm) and the garden is absolutley littered with cat poo, cat's normally choose a place to go and stick with it, but his is everywhere!! AAARRRRGGGHHH!!!!

I would ask for a second opinion personally. It may be some sort of spinal problem, a behavioural problem or as you say some sort of brain problem. If he has not always been this bad then it really does need looking into to see if there is anything can be done to improve his quality of life.

How old is he?

He's 2
