We have an indoor cat so he has a litter tray but he keeps weeing on my daughters bed ! She has a high sleeper and he will jump up there to wee. Any ideas why and what I can do to stop him it's driving me mad. Confused

Hi op my cat started doing this for no reason and it ended up with her not being very well and needing a lot of trips to the vets with crystals in her bladder - which must have been so painful, I think she was weeing on the bed to let us know something was wrong. So I would ring the vets asap just to make sure.

@3cats1baby1manchild ok thanks he also goes on his litter tray as well so it's a bit of both.

It’s often a sign of stress, and once they start, it becomes a habit.
First, take him to the vet for a checkup - he could be in pain or have cystitis, which can be serious, so definitely rule out anything physical.
Second, try to break the habit. Keep him out of your daughters room as much as possible. If it’s hard to keep door shut all the time, you could try putting a collar with a bell on him, so you can hear where he is and intercept him! If he pees on the bed, clean it up with enzyme cleaner, like “simple solution.”
Third, see if you can make the litter tray more appealing. I’d try getting a couple of trays and put them in different (quiet) places, away from food or water. Make sure they are big enough. If they have a hood - take it off, if they are open, try an enclosed one. Try some different litters (perhaps something softer?), and keep them spotlessly clean.
I feel for you - it’s really upsetting, but he won’t be doing it to upset you, bless him, so try not to let him see your frustration (or he might get more stressed and do it more!)

Definitely rule out any illness with a trip to the vet first. I think that I read online that you can get sprays to deter them from going up on your bed. I think that it might have even been citrus oil. It also said that Viks vapour tub works, but make sure that he can't ingest it. Just have the scent around. Good luck op!
