How do I stop a cat from coming into my garden?

A cat has been pooing on the driveway and this morning my husband cleared up a poo from our conservatory!
There is a new cat on the block (sorry) and it's been coming into our garden and it even got in my car the other day, so I am assuming it is the same one that is pooing everywhere.
Any ideas?

TIA

It goes in the bin bags too, such a pain, thanks for all the ideas so far.

We found coffee grounds very effective.

Agree that, as a cat owner, I wouldn't object if our cat was sprayed with water if he's not welcome.

Can't say I've tried it but I remember reading that hanging CD's in the area can help because, as they catch the light, they supposedly look like the eyes of a bloody enormous cat to your average mog and so scares them off. (Just pick up the free internet connection CDs at the supermarket)

I find this works. If a cat does venture across the garden when I've put it down, it does so at 90 mph!

jangly, can i get that in normal pet shops?

I've always bought it at a local garden centre, but its not always easy to find. Probably quicker and easier to buy it online. If you google "Silent Roar" you will find several places that supply it postage free. HTH
