Just wondering if anyone can help.

I have two housecats. They don’t go outside, but a couple of weeks ago, one of them managed to bolt past and out the patio doors when I was unloading shopping. He was gone about an hour and then came wandering back in as I left the door open and put out food/treats. Since then, I’ve noticed him grooming a hell of a lot more and realised this morning he has fleas!!! I’ve just treated both cats, popped them in a nice fresh bed and flea bombed the Livingroom (it’s the only carpeted room in the house)

I’ve just noticed as he’s been grooming himself that it looks like on his belly he’s been pulling his hair out. He coughs up fur balls often and I’ve adapted his diet to include food that helps with this but I’m absolutely heartbroken thinking he’s causing himself pain 😔 Does anyone have any experience/advice?!

not sure if you need to get it from a vets.
I have bought it online (slightly cheaper) but not sure about Pets at Home

Good luck with sorting it. Skirting boards are a place fleas often hide apparently, when l had a flea infestation l was advised to pay particular attention to them

www.amazon.co.uk/Virbac-INDOREX-Indorex-Flea-Spray/dp/B00GKHI2PW?tag=mumsnetforu03-21 this is the flea spray my vet charged me £20 for Angry. Each application should last 6 months.

Pets at home sell the 'defence' spray that lasts 2 months, but are showing as out of stock for delivery and collection at the moment.

SeaDreaming · 11/09/2020 19:31

(Actually I was wrong about how long the defence spray lasts - its 2 months of killing adult fleas and dust mites, and 12 months of killing flea eggs and larvae)

The fleas in the house jumping back on the cats will kill the buggars.

I had a long haired cat he was Turkish Angora pure white. He brought fleas home from cattery. Basically flea treatment ran out by two days when I was on holiday. I basically put him in the bath no water to brush him. That way you can see what comes off. I had a cup of water with washing up liquid ready to put live fleas in. I did this regular for a few days. I put flea treatment on him. I bought flea spray and power for house. I hoovered couple of times a day for eggs. He had bites on him that were sore. Pay particular attention to head around ears and base of tail. Buy a nit comb to brush. My cat was white so I could see them Eww. I got rid of them.
