Why would you need to spray the floor, VAC IT!

Oh and you need to treat the cat more than the house, fleas can only survive 48 hours within access to the host's blood (they don't actually thrive on human blood).

ok have vac, under sofa etc, more throughly than i normally do can they escape from the hoover,
i did buy something in asda yesterday, bob martin drops, £8.00 said previously only avaiable on prescription, is that enough?

Ye gods no, sorry. The stuff you get from supermarkets is absolutely no use these days. Unfortunately the fleas have grown resistant to a lot of insecticides these days. Particularly the older style ones.

You want Frontline. You don't have to go to a vet though, you can get it online much cheaper than the vet will sell it to you. Hang on a sec I'll get your a URL....

NutterlyUts · 28/09/2007 21:27

DON'T USE THE BOB MARTIN STUFF!!!

PLEASE only use stuff from the vet. It costs more I know, but its safe. The stuff you can get in petshops/asda etc isn't as regulated, and can do more harm then good.

Aren't they supposed to wear special flea collars or something?

Do you have fleas on your laminate flooring then? Have they fallen off the cat? Is there a circus?

Oh those guys deliver within a day! Seriously, if you have just put the heating on, they will all hatch out and come looking for food! They are probably not on the floors, but in soft furnishings (beds etc). Vacuuming will suck up the eggs though (empty the vac afterwards outside). You can try getting some body lotion and putting tea tree oil in it and rubbing it on yourself to deter them from biting you in the interim, they hate it. You can also bathe your cat in tea tree oil shampoo.

beautifulgirls · 28/09/2007 22:16

You do need to treat laminate floors - edges in particular, crack and crevices the eggs can get into. Treat all soft furnishings well. Adult fleas don't survive terribly long, but the eggs can stay undeveloped for very long periods in the environment and hatch out even a year or two later. Make sure therefore the household spray will give protection for a full 12 months.
Spray some up into the hoover bag or the cylinder to kill any that you hoover up.
Yepp.....Avoid the Bob Martins spot on!

Tea tree oil can be toxic to cats - please dont use it on the cat

are the bomb things any good?
