Is it ok to look after someone else's dog during lockdown?

Due to a busy lifestyle and because we are away a lot, we don't have any pets. My kids would love to have a pet but I know it would be a problem and most importantly it wouldn't be fair on the pet so not really an option. A colleague has asked me if I'd like to look after her pug for a week in July as she is hoping to go away on holiday. I said yes as we are all at home atm and it seems to be the perfect opportunity for the kids to experience having a pet. Everyone's very excited about it so I'm hoping this will go ahead but do you know what the guidelines are regarding this as far as covid19 is concerned? Is it safe? I am mostly concerned about the dog belongings that they'll have to give us. Could this be carrying the virus as it comes from a different household? They'll probably relax the rules next month but is this even allowed? Hopefully, I'm just being paranoid about this and I shouln't be concerned. What do you think?

As long as you can give the dog over without being so close to each other surely it should be fine? Personally I'd spray the dogs belongings with dettol spray and wash and soak food and water bowl first. Just wipe any food given to you.

Does anyone know if it's true that the virus can be carried by a dog on its fur? It makes sense as the fur would act like any other surface. As I don't have pets I have never looked into it before.

Dog walkers are currently working and doggy day care centres so i can't see an issue.

I've had MIL's dog stay over a few times I guess it's personal preference. I don't see an issue with it.
