Cat experts-Advice about our kittens please.

We have 2 9 week old female kittens. They are very cute. I have never really been a 'cat person'. DH definitely is though. The only thing that puts me off cats is when they scratch and bite. The kittens have just started to do this and the children are a bit scared of them(which may not be such a bad thing).

What can you do to try to curb this behaviour?

TIA

I put them down on the floor and said no when they done it. I don't know if this worked, or if they just grew out of it though.

Thanks Coleyboy, it sounds like they are quick to learn. They have already learnt how to use the litter tray so hopefully will learn not to scratch and bite.

walk away from it, or pick them up and put them somewhere else. Basically stop the behaviour from happening.

Don't do what DH did and encourage it because they are little and sweet and it doesn't really hurt much.

Although even our cat grew out of it quite quickly.

DH had a lovely cat when I met him. She only died a few months ago. However I was always wary of her, and hardly ever picked her up as she did bite. I am keen to make sure I have no fear of our kittens...Ever!

I would encourage children not to pick up the kittens but to play games with paper balls, bit of string ect things to chase and encourage play. Often kittens bite or scratch as they are roughly handled but if its done during play then walk away thus ending something fun they will soon pick it up
