7 week kitten not eating

Hi, looking for some advice as I am so worried.
I will be phoning the vets again first thing tomorrow.
I have a 7 week 4 day kitten which on Friday developed a sticky eye I phoned the vet and had a phone consultation (due to Covid 19) and an eye ointment was prescribed. Since then she has a blocked nose and is completely of her food.
Mother cat has not being feeding any of her kittens for over a week. Today the kitten has only managed 1.5ml of water with a syringe.
Even though she has not eaten for over 48 hours apart from the small suckles that she manages of her mums milk she is still active.
So just looking for any advice on how I can feed her and get some fluids in as I am so worried.

What are you wearing the kitten on?
Could they have gum pain from teething? If you feel around the gums does the kitten show any signs of discomfort?

dementedpixie · 14/06/2020 22:45

What food do you have for the kittens? Could you thin it down with water and syringe that too?

dementedpixie · 14/06/2020 22:46

have you been worming them too?

wheresmymojo · 14/06/2020 22:56

I was also going to ask what food you've been weaning them on as they should be on solids mainly by now.

Do you have any tuna in spring water in?

If so try tempting her with a bit of that (it must be in spring water though, not brine!)

The kitten has not actually come home to me but I am 100% adopting her. She is still with the owner I have seen the owner give it food pouches when it started being weaned. But since Saturday she has not eaten a bite of food.
I will message her and say to feel her gums.
I don’t think the kitten has been wormed I was looking at taking out a Petplan and getting the vaccinations done at 9 weeks and the flea and wormIng treatments then too.
Thank you for replying it has been a comfort as I can’t stop crying thinking about my poorly baby.
But I will be phoning the vets as soon as they open tomorrow.

The kittens should already be getting wormed. Why the hell is it you phoning the vet and not the current owner of the kitten??

hope ots not cat flu

My kittens used to love salmon mousse. From 6 weeks I mixed it into a gruel with kitten milk. Our Queen allowed her kittens to suckle until about 10 weeks. Could your Queen be persuaded to suckle kitten? If kitten won't feed it will die. You need to buy kitten milk and offer in small bottle with test.

Also I have been down today and tried everything but she just won’t open her mouth to eat.
The 1.5ml of water was force fed.

Ok so I would definitely say vet should be first call as soon as possible.

I would also recommend getting some kitten milk and trying that by syringe just to get some nutrients in.

Then try mixing some of the kitten milk warmed up with dry kitten food. Let it sit for a minute then mush it up and try a little on your finger at a time to encourage the kitten to lap it up.

The current owner also needs to ensure the kitten is up to date on all worming. It should be done at around 2, 5,8 and 12 weeks so if it hasn't been done at all then the kitten could have worms which would give them digestive trouble.
