they're soooo cute. i'd never seen one till recently.

My sister bought a lion head in July and after several escaping attempts it sadly died a fortnight ago after battering its head off the fence trying to scale it.

expatinscotland · 17/09/2007 23:22

I know that post wasn't meant to be funny, Liesel, but somehow, it is .

LieselVentouse · 17/09/2007 23:26

Thank god shes not on here just now cause she was right gutted.

expatinscotland · 17/09/2007 23:28

I mean, how exactly did it batter its heid trying to get over a fence? It should have been moving upwards, not horizontally?

I'd be gutted, too. Those things cost a bomb.

NotAnOtter · 17/09/2007 23:30

dp says they need a loy of grooming as they get matted

LieselVentouse · 17/09/2007 23:31

What things cost a bomb???? - it was only £16

expatinscotland · 17/09/2007 23:32

Damn! The last thing we need is another pet that needs a lot of grooming. We've got a teenage Persian who came to us as a stray.

Those lion heads are ADORABLE, tho!

DD1 just fell in love.

Think we'll stick to a hamster.

moljam · 18/09/2007 11:09

NotAnOtter do i use a soft brush?and do i need to wash it?(do rabbits have baths?!)
LieselVentouse thats so sad!we have an indoor hutch and it can go in run outside with guinea pigs.
it was £25 so more expensive than 'normal' rabbit but sooooo cute!

i have several rabbits. 1 lionhead and a lionlop(lionhead but with lopears) they dont need that much grooming. it is only thier mane around face that is long. all rabbits benefit from grooming , they see it as a sign of affection and bonding with owner but you will only have to do it once a week/fortnight. honest dont worry. i have an american fuzzy lop whose hair is 4inch long that needs grooming !!!

muma3 · 19/09/2007 13:30

i also have a few other rabbits for sale , i could give you advice on other breeds if you decide it isnt the right breed for you , sonds like you have your heart set on it though and once you see it in your arms at home it will be llike a new baby and im sure you wont mind coming it a little lol

moljam · 19/09/2007 14:25

thanks muma3,what kind of brush do i need?

OP posts:
muma3 · 19/09/2007 15:21

just a metal comb , like flea comb for dog. the only thing i forgot to say is obviously they moult around twice a year so they will look like they are losing alot of hair but it does come back. enjoy!

moljam · 19/09/2007 21:25

thankyou.i'll pop to pet shop tomorrow.do they need washing?

OP posts:
muma3 · 20/09/2007 10:09

i had a white lionhead x newzealand and i did bath him as he got very dirty. i spent £5 on special rabbit shampoo from a company called greenfields. it is for all hairy critters lol

i have 15 rabbits at the moment and i dont bath any of them . it takes away their natural oils and then they become lazy too.

matter of opinion really
good luck

moljam · 20/09/2007 12:09

ok well its white so i'll see how we go.thanks again.
