Just that really..my daughter is an only child, and would love a pet, but partner is just not keen on animals.
hamsters were agreed on in the past, but unfortunately lost them to wet tail. A dog or cat would be amazing, DH does not engage in conversation about this any longer, and it's his house too..has anybody been in this position, and was there a comprise?
Thanks in advance

I think guinea pigs are good. Big enough to cuddle and can be very affectionate. Your dh can ignore them if your house is big enough to keep them out of the way. Our 2 provide much entertainment and we're glad to have them especially at the moment.

Rat are great pets but they smell. So I don’t think your DH would be happy with them. Doesn’t matter how clean you keep them ( if fact keeping them too clean leads to ‘pee scenting’ ) They are much higher maintenance than most people realise.

I grew up with rabbits but as beautiful and funny and sweet as they can be, they are hard work and expensive and can live up to 15 years. Wayyyyy harder work than cats. Plus the guidance these days is to keep them in pairs. And some can be grumpy as feck lol. I had such a wonderful childhood with rabbits but I think the smart choice would be to go with another pet. I also had guineapigs as a kid, they make sweet pets. But they are very smelly inside (at least in comparison to hamsters, gerbils and rabbits). So maybe gerbils right enough...
