I've recently just found out I'm pregnant with baby#2
I've already a 5 year old daughter and she's over the moon, my worry is we've had our dog now for nearly 2 years, he's been absolutely no bother with my daughter but I'm starting to worry now as the last few weeks he's even starting to really act up, he's started to nip, he's becoming overly hyper active now where he's running around and jumping on and over the sofa, hes in training classes so I'm hoping that helps but my other half doesn't seem an issue with his behaviour now I know I've a good 7ish months left but I'm really worried about how he's gunna be around the baby 😔 I really don't know what to do

What are your actual concerns about how the dog is going to be with the baby?

Sleepycat91 · 14/03/2020 21:17

Neutered? Can help calming them down. Get a stair gate up now and get him used to that, so hes out the way but can still see whats going on. Crate training can help. Also is he being exercised enough, boredom and built up energy can cause unruly behaviour too x

Have you changed his routine? It's important to still take him out even if you don't feel as inclined. At two it's a funny age to start acting up. Maybe it can sense you're pregnant. I don't think my dog did that early though.

Personally I find a dog is very handy for getting you out of the house with a newborn and getting some air. I'm sure you'll be doing school runs, so probably will be up and about anyway. My dog isn't that keen on children, but isn't a problem either.

What breed do you have ?

Sounds like this dog needs more exercise
