Dog has stye [sp?] next to eye - should I do anything?

It doesn't seem to be bothering him at all. Do these things just go away on their own over time, or do I need magic lotion of some sort?

Is it touching the eye at all?

It is right next to it, on the eyelid, but not actually touching.

It is probably nothing to worry about in that case - more just a cosmetic thing really. Surgery to remove these things will depend where the root of the little growth is, but can be difficult to do without deforming the eyelid a little in some cases. Your vet would be able to have a look and maybe tell you more but otherwise I wouldnt worry too much about it. Sadly there is no magic lotion that I am aware of!

Put some golden eye ointment along lid or brolene cream - works a treat (meant for humans!)

Are you sure it is a stye and not a wart?
Ours had a little lump appear on his eyelid which I ignored until it started to irritate his eye which was watering and he kept rubbing it. Took him to vet who said it was a wart, and the problem was the second wart on the upper eyelid which I hadn't really noticed as it was very small.
Anyway - the constant rubbing had caused an ulcer on his cornea, and the only real solution was to surgically remove the warts. Not a cheap option for a 14 yr old, but it seemed it was either that or have him put down as doing nothing would have left him in constant pain.
If you dog is not bothered by them then I'd just leave well alone, but if his eye start watering or he rubs at his eyes, then get it check out.
