Kitten cage

I'm getting a kitten and have been advised to have a cage for night with a litter tray. Any suggestions of cages to give kitten space from the litter tray?

I bought a large dog cage which gave enough room for a litter tray bed and food and drink

You don't have to get a cage, most people have their cats roam free and they will settle for the night. But if you need one obviously then make sure it is large enough for them to walk around as they don't like being trapped and ensure there is a litter tray and water/biscuits available spaced far enough apart from one another. Good luck with your kitten!

We just use a small bathroom As the cat’s sleeping quarters for those first few days.

I've never heard of caging a cat!

We just let ours have free roam. Start with a smaller room at first if you like but ours have had free access to downstairs since we brought them home.

I’ve never heard of anyone getting a cage and I don’t think you need one. If you’re able to confine your kitten to one room to begin with, this should be fine.

One room is fine. It's not a good idea to cage a cat, it won't feel safe like a dog will. They are very different. It will feel trapped.

Have never heard of caging a kitten. We never used one when we got 2 kittens nearly 3 years ago

Another poster who has never heard of caging kittens, however ours started off in 1 room, with a box under a chair with a blanket over so that was like a den. They slept there at night for a good few weeks.
