Hello everyone I would like some help, oak downsizing my property from a two bed to a one (I am a single 29 year old living alone in London( the property I bidded for and accepted however it does not allow pets, it did state on the advert but many do accept with permission hence why I asked during the pre tenancy sign up, the woman said I can have it as long as I agree to not have any pets, I am a vulnerable person with severe anxiety and depression and my indoor cat really helps me with that, I don't know what to do, I got my hopes up, she said it's 'a thing with all new builds now' that they simply don't allow pets, it was part of the development agreement and of course the association agreed to that. Please help any advice would be much appreciated , I struggle with these things.
Thank you

It's so unlike to be evicted for having a cat ( a noisy animal such as a dog or a pet that had been a nuisance to neighbours) is very different a judge would likely consider it unreasonable as shelter said and citizens advice bureau, they would have to exhaust all avenues before court so it wouldn't even get to that point because I would give my cat to my mother if I HAD to because I could still see him, but I'd obviously rather not.they would never just seek possession immediately after finding out I had a cat so it's not an issue. yes I considered not taking it with the advice of others, I have liked and agreed with advice from posters here just not the nasty vapid responses from people here who not know how to o interact with a vulnerable person. I have spoken to shelter and I was simply giving an update not really asking for any further advice. Thanks for your responses everyone and enjoy your weekend :)

Well you’ve obviously decided you are going to do it so I wish you the best of luck and hope it all works out the way you want it to

Flowerywoman · 20/10/2019 15:27

Yes it's most likely they would never know anyway. Thank you very much for your kind message. All the best to you and have a great Christmas and New year x

Flowerywoman

You sound like someone I know.

She has anxiety and OCD yet her anxiety is caused by her own actions,

She will do stupid things and then hope she doesn’t get caught out. She tells lies when there is no need and then worries that the person will find out her lie.

She spends money on her credit card on things she admits she doesn’t want or need I think just to cause her to worry

If you describe yourself as having anxiety why add to it by taking a flat that doesn’t allow pets

Flowerywoman · 21/10/2019 22:58

Because my cat won't be an issue and nothing will ever come of it that's why :) this discussions well and truly over now, thanks for your response however. Have a great Christmas and New year

Why bother posting you clearly knew you were keeping the cat regardless and Imo it’s wrong. If you want to keep an animal either stay where you are, find somewhere that allows them or buy your own house. The house doesn’t belong to you at the end of the day whether you stay there 1 year or 100

spreading positivity and fun energy amongst the thread for all the utterly dull and personality lacking women on here unchecking emails notifications now and won't be posted on here anymore, a big thank you to all of the considerate and helpful responses, I've generally had a bad experience on this website (being attacked and bullied on aibu and so on) so I don't be using this website ever again, but it has been somewhat helpful, thanks all xxx

I forgot to say that I spoke to my housing officer today and my cat can be considered as long as it's the only pet as long as I have a letter from my GP, only found out this late afternoon, hooray! Thanks to the kind lady who suggested this in the first place, one of the very few helpful responses I've had on here , I hope all of you uptight dull negative and generally unhelpful women are genuinely happy the way you are, however I cannot relate. My last ever post, take care guys x

Honestly OP I would sneak the cat in. It's hardly the crime of the century and what harm would a cat possibly do anyway?

Aprillygirl · 21/10/2019 23:23

Oh I've just seen your update. Yay happy for you OP. Smile

Flowerywoman · 21/10/2019 23:30

Exactly! Thank you that means a lot to me that you happy for me, very kind, I'm about to delete my account, I am very happy of the outcome and I agree my cat would do no harm, he is gold, well groomed, quiet and a wonderful companion he helps my depression immensely. Thank you for your nice message. Happy Halloween April! Xxx

OP I've literally just found this thread, read through to the end and got your update and I'm so pleased for you. Brilliant.

For the record, for anyone else in a similar situation, it's always worth asking. I live in a ha flat and in our block there are two cats despite it being a new build and contrary to the lease yadda yadda. The first one, your man has a life limiting condition, doesn't get out much and basically has the cat as a companion. The second one, the woman got violently assaulted years ago and has been left with epilepsy and learning disabilities and again her cat is very important to her. The ha is fine about both of the animals and frankly I reckon you'd have to be a total dick to complain about them which is why the rest of us never do. There are all sorts of accommodations that can be made once you get offered a secure tenancy, no one has a key to your house, you've already passed several thresholds, I think a lot of people in the UK don't understand how different it is because we're all so used to being fucked over by landlords. I'm so glad things have worked out for you OP.

Aprillygirl · 21/10/2019 23:47

Well I'm sorry you feel the need to delete your account Flowerywoman but I wish you and kitty all the happiness in your new home x
