Are rats eating my rabbit's food?

Over the last couple of days the rabbits seem to have eaten thier pellets very quickly - and they are scattered around a bit, which is unusual.
I have created a hatch between the run and the shed they live in - would it be likely that rats would get in and scoff a whole bowl of pellets in about an hour?
Would the rabbits be afraid of rats, or would they chase them out?
They are very agile netherland dwarfs.

They were neutered last week and didn't eat much for a couple of days, so could they just be eating a lot very quickly to catch up?

not sure but we did have rats trying to get at our rabbits, our 2 were huge but very scared of the rats.someone recommended planting mint next to the hutch as the rats dont like it.never saw them again.

if its rats then there will be rat droppings. Agree with moljam that rabbits are scared of rats

are they girls or boys? i need to get my 2 girls neutered... was it expensive? did they have to have many stiches?

sorry nothing to do with the rat problem

Brilliant tip - we have loads of mint in our garden - I will re-plant it all round the shed and run. And have a look for rat droppings.

Snow - they are female. It cost £60 per rabbit (London). The vet said that in terms of the time it takes, they should chgarge more because rabbits are more complicated to neuter than cats and dogs. OUrs weren't fighting (they were 'expressing themselves sexually' in a very unladylike manner with each other) but the vet said they would be at risk of uterine cancer if we didn't breed from them. They had a little patch under their tummies which was shaved - they were a bit cautious and sore for about 2 days, but now seem completely unscathed.

thanks for that blu.... mine arent fighting but doing the same as yours and more so when they are in the run, so i am keeping them in the hutch at the moment, they seem to do it less in there!!!!!

i was convinced i had a boy and girl, but it seems quite normal after all......
