Has anyone used a service that comes to your house to look after your pets?

They don't live in but just come in to care for animals. We're away for a week in August and we have 2 rats, 4 fish and an elderly cat who would probably turn up her toes if we took her to a cattery. Nice neighbour very politely declined to have anything to do with DS#1's rats but will feed cat. Wondering if it's easier to pay someone to do it all.

It should be possible to find someone to come in on a daily basis.

We used a local service and it cost us £7 per visit. She came in once each day, fed the chickens, fed the cats, cleared the post etc. We paid £7 per day for a week, so £49.00 in total.

She would have visited twice a day if we needed her too.

Thankyou Davina. I meant to pop into the pet shop on Saturday but ran out of time.

You do realise that your name makes it very very hard not to swear don't you

We recently went away and used Platinum Petcare (www.platinumpetcare.co.uk) for our two cats. They are based in Bath but do nationwide I think. Their person came round each day to do feeding, litter tray etc but they'll also do other stuff like watering plants, post, whatever..
Cost £8 a visit and they'll come twice a day if you want. Also all their people are checked by Criminal Records Bureau if you're worried about that sort of thing.
Otherwise try the vets - vet nurses will often help out.

I need something like this too, just for a weekend for a cat, 2 budgies and parrot - I'll probably put the dog in kennels.
