WTF is my cat doing?

She is off to be spayed today. I suspect she is on heat - displaying lots of signs of desperation. However, this morning we have got up to find two large wet patches on the floor, and now she has just done a third. Its not wee. Is it normal for female cats to do this? If anyone knows I'd really appreciate knowing what and why before I get in the bath as I just stepped in it [yyeeeuuuccchh] emoticon.

Hello! I'm not sure your vet will want to spay her if she is on heat as it makes the op more complicated with everything being a bit swollen inside iykwim! So you'd really better mention it to them. I'm assuming that the vert will have told you not to feed your cat either from a certain time last night or from this morning? If the wet patches are definately not pee, it could maybe be watery vomit. Have you actually seen her producing the watery stuff i.e are you sure it's coming out of her bum region?

Either way, you should prob give your vet a ring...!

Hi there, thanks!

No definately from bottom end. She is kind of putting tail in air and waggling it, like a spasm. I looks like it is a male cat spaying IYSWIM? Yes she hasn't eaten since 9 last night. The vet is only round the corner and have an appointment first so will just go along and see. really odd. At least now I have a clean foot though!

Oh how weird! Is she DEFINATELY a she! It sounds exactly like a male cat spraying! I am intrigued... could you let me know what your vet says about it? Good luck!

We have a wombless cat back! She was definitely a she, although I was half expecting the vet to declare the op a waste of time while we were there! He thought it sounded like she might have an infection - but that what they would recommend if she did would be neuturing anyway. Apparently being on heat on op day isn't a problem for cats, mainly dogs. So she is back home, well, hungry and hopefully able to avoid an over zealous two year old!
