10 Month old Collie Cross - Anyone know about Haltis?

We have a 10 month old o Collie Cross (Lab) who has a great temprement with dc's and is well behaved generally - but he pulls like ad and is very strong!! We have tried putting him on a harness but his shoulders are so strong that while this reduces his pulling it still seems he takes us for a walk!! Does anyone have any experience of Haltis - someone mentioned them and said they worked well, have any MNetters seen positive results?! Thanks

I think halti's are good so are half chokes.
Harnesses are not ideal for pullers as is gives them more power from their shoulders iirc

i use a halti on my gsp and it is an absolute godsend ,my 4 yr old can walk him when he has it on ! he did completely flip out the first few times he wore it so be prepared for alot of flinging itself on the floor and general hystreonics but perservere and its worth it

Other dog owners I've met in RL swear by them. I tried them on my springer (various sizes of Halti, and other brand equivalents) and they've all been hopeless. He just scrunches up his face and somehow shrugs free of the wretched things before we've gone more than a few metres up the road (and then is not on a lead by a main road).

I've wasted a fortune over the years on them and on magic harnesses (lupi?) that will stop him pulling on the lead, all to no avail.

I use one occasionally for one of my labs. It is absolutely fantastic - I could hold her with with my little finger even when she tries her hardest to pull. It did take her a few walks to get used to it though, just take plenty of treats to reward him walking and go somewhere with lots of distractions to take his mind off it.

I bought it because mil was unable to walk her anymore, but pils refuse to use it because it is cruel. If it was so cruel why would my dog bounce around getting excited when she sees it?

Hi,
I use one for one of my dogs also a collie cross (Doberman) and it is a godsend, I wish I had used it earlier. She did fling herself about a bit at first but now is used to it.

She pulled my back out that is the reason I bought it, cheaper than going to see my physio, LOL!!!

my daughter uses one on her rottie who is like a steam train without it now my 8 yearold can walk her it was the best thing she ever bought, the stupid thing did all sorts of summersaults to get it off the 1st time but is fine now
