Witnessed horrific dog abuse.

Not sure how to proceed and what steps I should take next!
Whilst on a walk with my own dog I heard lots of barking and viscous fighting coming from across the field,
There are plenty of dogs round here, so lots of barking whilst out walking anyway.
I didn't think twice until I realised the owner was grabbing his dog (clearly still a puppy) by it's neck and repeatedly throwing it down into the field and kicking it. I was in utter shock and didn't think to record it in order to send it to the correct authorities. At first I thought he was beating someone else's dog as there were around 4-5 other men around him at the time, but I realised later that it was his own dog, this seemed to be his way of "punishing" his dog for getting into a fight...

I filled out an online form on the RSPCA's website and requested to receive updates regarding the complaint. I haven't received any updates and it has now been 5 days, they live around the corner from me so I can see they're still out walking their dogs (they have 4 chihuahuas).

I didn't go up to the men to say anything as I had my own dog and felt very frightened, I'm also very small!

I should add that as the men walked past me, the dog was being carried in its owners arms and was clearly very distressed and injured.
Should I call the RSPCA? They don't seem to be doing anything.

I'd call the non-emergency police number. Sorry you had to witness this but that dog could well die if left with that owner. I hate humans sometimes.

mydogisthebest · 02/06/2018 15:49

I would call the RSPCA so you know they have your information. Plus they can tell you, hopefully, what they can do about it.

Personally I would also ring the Dog Warden and tell them

fourpawswhite · 02/06/2018 15:53

I may be in the minority here and I am aware police are busy but if I saw someone repeatedly picking up a dog and throwing it to the ground and kicking it I absolutely would call 999.

Scotland based and I have seen lots of people prosecuted for violence of lesser level towards a dog. That is a criminal matter and exactly what police would deal with.

Given a few days have now gone by I would call non emergency police number and take it from there. Poor dog.

Please report to Police and dog warden,also RSPCA again
RSPCA never give you updates but they can tell you if it has definitely been reported
Poor dog,something similiar happened near me recently
Please update if you hear anything ,

@princesstiasmum @mydogisthebest
Ah I have never heard of Dog Warden, I'll definitely give them a call and will update on here.
I know the family and they're a nasty piece of work.
I really hope they don't treat all of their dogs like that. It was sickening! Thanks for the useful advice! Thanks

Hi all places have a dog warden as far as i know usually connected with RSPCA ,they go out to collect dogs that are found or abandoned, but will look into cruelty cases too
If those people treat one dog that way they will tret them all badly scumbags,l hope that poor little thing is ok,

TTCI · 16/06/2018 17:59

Is there an update on this? I could t sleep last night thinking about that poor dog x

adhominemhaterr · 16/06/2018 18:15

@TTCI
Sorry, no news really....
I actually saw the family walking all of their dogs just the other day, including the dog that received the abuse.
I don't really know what to do now. I have sent another report but haven't heard back.
So sorry you've been upset by this...

You should contact the police. What a horrible incident 😞

TTCI · 18/06/2018 00:28

Yes maybe police can escalate it? I know it's hard to get involved but think about that animals day to day life. If it's not dead soon it's next few years will be full of misery.
