We've just got a new kitten and we're looking for an insurance company that will insure for the life of the cat and of course who are helpful, reliable, good value etc. Any recommendations? Thanks.

I had a vision of a ginger kitten driving her own tiny car with an L plate, and hardly seeing over the wheel. And needing insurance.

I'll get me coat.

We have LLoyds TSb for our dog, came out the cheapest and have so far paid out 2k's worth of vets fees and only going up by £1 a month to take it to £9

More Than are good. Petplan are the best, but also the most expensive. But with insurance, you really do get what you pay for. You must read the small print. A lot of them (esp Tescos and Sainsburys) will put exclusions on things after 1 year (eg, cat gets abscess at say 7 mths old, insurance pays out, but come your annual review, will put an exclusion saying that no abscesses are covered - for rest of animal's life!) May seem trivial at the time, but as your cat gets older, if he/she suffers from say kidney disease, urinary prob (which will most prob be lifelong), after 1 year of treatment, the insurance will no longer pay out.
Sorry if that sounds harsh, but am a vet nurse, and seen this happen SO many times.

Stay away from DBI and E&L!
