we got a black lab on saturday form another MNer. We gave her her tea on saturday night which she sicked up a bit. Sunday morning she threw her breakfast up and since then shes not eaten. I am wondering if she is just pining a bit or if shes poorly? She is fine going for walks and playing with her ball etc. Asleep in her bed now.

well, I don't know about other vets but ours likes to do a 'welcome' check on the pet when they're first with u, just a once over type thing, might be worth doing, it's prob nothing. have you asked0. the. prev owner? are you useing the same foods? sounds silly but is she drinking her water as well (just thinking it was v hot yesterday)

try some balnd foods for today to see how she goes (chicken and rice type thing)

i'd talk to the prev owner first thou if you can

I second Munz's opinion. Also, maybe just call the vets and explain. They should be able to advise you. Sounds like a bit of stress though TBH - seperation anxiety or something. Dogs are pack animals and she's probably feeling a bit lost. But don't worry, I'm sure she'll perk up soon.

did you feed her something different to what she was used to? A sudden change in diet can spark vomiting.

Don't be tempted to give her treats to get her to eat, it'll only make her worse. I'd call the vet and ask what he/she thinks.

I have and shes not been sick before. Though they said she didnt seem keen on the latest food she was on. I bought some other food and given her the one she had with them for tea and the new one for breakfast. Yes shes drunk plenty. Wouldn't say it was excessive. Will cook her some chicken up later. I was going to book her in to get her microchipped anyway.

well get to the vets, and try the chicken/rice for one day (it's ment to be softer on the tummy or something?) anyhow it's what the vet recopmmends my two, the idea is you slowly reintroduce their foods mixed in with the chicken/rice or fish we use as well.

fingers crossed it's just the food being a bit rich

ok chicken and rice not stayed down either. Is it unusual that shes digging a hole in the garden and being sick in it and then trying to bury it??

got vets appointment for 4.50 this evening. hope shes ok.

not had that myself, my dogs are normally sick then eat it - disgusting creatures, anyhow , deffinatly see the vet the chicken/rice should ahve been ok for her. fingers crossed it's just a simple 24 hour bug dogs sometimes get.

the vet said that she is just regurgitating her food for some reason. Said that it might be that she is slightly intolerant to something and the acid is making her sick. The vet said she needs to be on a senior diet as normal adult food might be too rich for her now. So I went and got some James Wellbeloved senior/light diet and shes kept it down at tea yesterday and breakfast this morning.

The vet said she is in good health apart from slight arthritis in one elbow and a lump on her other elbow, which he doesn't think is anything serious but probably need to have it taken off soon just because it might start getting in the way.

I have given her some cod liver oil tablets as the vet said that will keep her coat nice and and might help her elbow.

Anyway I'm off to do a few jobs while dd has a sleep and then take my baby for a walk. Its a beautiful day here.

Thanks for all your replies.
