Do You Have To Brush A Cat's/Kitten's Teeth?

As you may know have just added a lovely kitten to our household.

Do I need to brush his teeth, as advised in the cat care leaflets etc?

I have never done this in 19 years of having a cat, but am probably a negligent owner and not to be copied.

Shall cross kitten's toothbrush off my list then.

Can't imagine even trying!

How is the new baby?

Sorry, just found your post on the other thread - glad all well!

When they get old their teeth and gums can get into terrible shape (like humans then ) so if you got into the habit of brushing a kitten's teeth it might be possible to keep it going.

(My neighbour's elderly cat had to have extensive dental attention under anaesthetic - she had virtually stopped eating and was terribly thin)

So maybe if I brush his teeth once a week just so he is used to it might be beneficial later?

Fruittea, he is lovely. Tho' I got him to stop my feelings of broodiness, I still want another baby! (can't tho' Dh won't let me)
