Hyperallergenic dogs - do they exist?

Just that.

Any dog fur/dander allergy sufferers with any experience of hyperallergenic dogs? Is it too good to be true?

Shouldn't it be hypoallergenic? Maybe that's why you can't find them?

There are quite a few non-shed breeds, like poodles. I'm not sure about dander issues though.

A friend's son has severe allergies and is fine with their labradoodle.

No, they don't exist.

People have varying degrees of allergies to dog or cat or whatever protein which in the case of animals is also in their saliva so when they groom themselves they are covered in potential allergen.

It is possible to be more or less allergic to different breeds and even to different individuals of the same breed.

Breeds that don't cast (therefore need grooming) make less mess and thereby less dust so are better for people with a dust allergy but if you are allergic to dogs, you are allergic to dog. Sorry.

We got a greyhound (v short coat, hardly any noticeable casting) only after DH stroked him without getting wheezy and after he had no skin reaction to being licked.

And yes, you mean hypoallergenic Smile

Many of the poodle crosses seem OK. DH copes fine with our cockapoo as she doesn't shed.

In short, no. There's no particular breed or coat type which is guaranteed to produce less of a reaction in someone allergic to dogs.

Some allergy sufferers do better with breeds the lower shedding they are (though bear in mind less shedding often equals more grooming), others with very short single (i.e. no undercoat) coats even though they still shed.

DH has asthma and is allergic to some dogs. He suffers the least with very short and very fine single coats. We've got whippets and he has no reaction to them at all.

The best thing to do is meet some potentially suitable breeds and see if whoever is allergic reacts to them or not.

Not all dog breeds are hypoallergenic.
I have listed all the 20 top hypoallergenic dog breeds at

pitbullscare.com/hypoallergenic-dog-breeds/

Don't worry if your pet is hypoallergenic,
And all the treatment options also i have listed there.
