Newborn Kittens and older kittens

My cat had 2 kittens who are now 5 months old. Unfortunately before i managed to get her spayed, she got herself pregnant again 😲.
She's just given birth to 5 kittens today!!... and I'm wondering what to do about the two 5 month olds. One is male and the other is female. Do i have to keep them away from mum and newborns or should they be ok to go near them?
The male kitten isn't showing any interest when he's entered the room but the female is pretty curious so iv kept them out of the room for now but in a house with 3 small children, its hard for the kids to remember to keep the door shut and I'm worried that either A) 5 month old kittens will attack the newborns or B) mum will attack the 5 month olds...... or should they be ok as they are all family???

No, keep the older ones away definitely. They might be okay but not worth the risk. Male cats have been known to kill newborn kittens. How soon can you get mum spayed? And the older two?

I'm going to disagree with MeanAger, ime (similar to you, OP) the older kitten we still had (a tom) was totally brilliant with the newborns, and curled up with them to babysit when mum went out.

I currently have a 12 yo tom and two 11 week tom kittens, unrelated. They "suckle" off him, he's such a softy.

That is 1 experience with 1 tom hirples
