Claw trimming tips needed

Hi, any advice welcome. We have a 14 months old collie. Lately he is not letting me trim his claws. He did previously let me trim them if I put some peanut butter on a spoon to distract him and once he just lay there and let me trim them all. I have never drawn blood by accident or anything. Now he has decided he won't allow it anymore!! Have tried giving him frozen treats, using a dremel instead of the clippers. He won't hold still!! I don't want to run to the groomer as it was going so well before...Any advice? Is is just a teenage rebellious phase?

My vet charges £6 for trimming the claws. My dog never let me but I have been working with him to build him up to let me as he finds the vet quite traumatic when they do it. I've built it into his grooming routine so he is extremely relaxed beforehand and I spend lots of time around his feet. Stroking them whilst feeding treats and then walking away. So he doesn't always associate me being near his feet with them being clipped. He has become a lot better at letting me do it. My son distracts him with treats and talking to him/stroking him and I do it as quick as I can with lots of praise for him staying calm. Each time gets easier.

That's what I have been trying to do handling his paws when he is lying next to me/ gradually building it up but it's like he's decided he wants to give me a hard time! He was pretty okay with it up until he hit about 1 year old. All I can think is now he gets a lot more off leash time, he has got too cocky! He has been neutured and has no other issues. Just seems to have decided he ain't having this anymore!

Maybe my post should be did anyone else's dog turn into a young adult rebel at one year old!

I wonder if it might be worth a visit to the vet to check there isn't something causing him pain in his feet.
