My unloyal cat

Hi,

We recently moved into a new property with our 3 cats. One has always been a rambler. Upon introducing ourselves to the neighbours we advised them that if they didn't want any unwanted visits or attention from her to not encourage/call or fuss her.

For the first 6 months we've had no complaints but since the weather has got nice, one side of us is complaining that our cat is getting into her house via the windows. This neighbour is very elderly and when we first moved in was lovely. However, as soon as we started work outside a couple of months ago she knocks on our door at least 3 times a week with one complaint or another. She has harassed our workmen who did our roof, our garage base etc.

We have tried to be as considerate as possible and our workmen have been within time limits for working and very tidy and respectful. We have notified her of any work planned etc as we have gone along.

This latest thing now with our cat.......We've advised her to chase her out clapping and shouting, we have bought children's water pistols and told her to spray her. She wants us to lock her in and has now taken to knocking us out of bed, (not great when we work shifts), demanding we remobe said cat from her house. We've asked her why she isn't using the water pistols and she says she won't inside.

Our cat will become unbearably stressed if locked in, she's 5 years old and I feel it will be cruel.
Any ideas???????

Use the water pistols on your neighbour...

Tempted....... I think she's gotten used to not bothering with neighbours as the house has been empty for last 15 years.

How is the cat getting in her house?
Cat proof garden?

Dormer bungalows side by side, drives attached. She's getting in through windows that are wide open day and sometimes night.

I know it's a late reply but don't know if it would help. We have a similar issue... only our neighbour has an issue with our cat just crossing through her garden... not actually going in the house. We were thinking of buying those cat repellent sticks that you put in the garden - the ones that make a noise that humans can't hear but cats can and it deters them. Don't know if that would help in your situation?

Hi!
We seem to have calmed the situation down at the moment. We've suggested spraying citrus smelling water near the doors and windows outside and said kitty has been behaving a little better. I'll look into getting a couple of those though if the issue reoccurs! Thank you!
