I have a a cat but it was not part of her tail and there was no blood on it. Any reasonable explanations for exactly how a cat loses the end of it tail?

Nearly puked when I realised what it was, it's bad enough when the sodding cat brings live frogs in but pieces of her own species - give me a break!

yes keep reading this thread everytime you think about getting another one sparkler. Remember when they puke behind a closed door so when you open the door it gets smeared everywhere!

My cats don't go out, but they used to, until some b*stard shot my male cat, shattering his hind leg into 10 pieces, which cost over £1800 to fix (luckily we had insurance) so now we don't let them out, they come into the garden with us but thats as far as they go.

Our cat came home one night with the last 3 ins of his own tail dangling in the wind. Was due to take him to vets anyway to get stitches out of last war wounds (series of puncture wounds either side of his spine), so didn't require unscheduled visit! While he was an enthusiastic cat fighter, I think that both these incidents were more likley related to the chickens recently aquired by neighbours who also had a pretty swift terrier type of dog. Suspect too many feline victories had inflated our cat's ego to the extent that he felt the dog was insufficent protection for the chickens!
Anyway - vet took off the end of the tail rather than reattach it as the circulation in the tail generally is not great and sewing them back on usually fails. So if another cat's tail had parted company, there wouldn't necessarily be much blood.

My mum once shut our cat's tail in the door of the french window and chopped the end off! The cat ran about round outside for ages yelping then was fine, she had a short tail for the next 12 years and died at the ripe old age of 13.

one of my cats had his tail bitten off by his mother at birth... she got confused and thought it was the umbilical! his brother who we also took in had a 90deg bend in his so she must have gotton it wrong with him too!
