How to stop her disappearing

We have 3 cats Rosie 5 Felix 4 Tilley 3

Rose is Felixs mum she occasionally has a go at Tilley (and felix)

We moved house and had a new baby over a 2 week period 9 months ago and ever since have had multiple hospital appointments which require overnight says with dd2 averaging one every month and a half and every time Tilley goes missing for weeks on end.

Recently we haven't had to go back as dd2 had her big op so we've been home 2 months solid yet tilley keeps wandering off I've just picked her up after a 3 week disappearance

I've had cats my whole life but I'm stumped we keep her in as much as possible with a 3 year old opening doors but how do I get her to stay?

Could you cat proof the garden? We've done it at a few houses and it's worked really well

Unfortunately it would be impossible due to the layout of the garden and house, the gardens raised and they walk over our extention into next door

Could you not fit something to stop them getting on to the extension? I thought my last garden was impossible to cat proof due to four foot high garden walls and a single story extension but Securacat worked out a way for us. Or build a Catio off the back of the house?

Ps you might want to get this loved to the Litter Tray for more cat people

If missing for weeks on end then she has found another family to live with, at least partly. Try a paper collar so you can talk to them.

I hadn't thought about cat proofing the extention roof as well that might work but i would need to loose an apple tree as it's branches grow over the roof Sad definitely worth investigating though I'd rather the cats than tree

ragged she is being fed by another family who I vaugly know and I have spoken to them and begged them not to feed her but they are elderly one has advanced dementia and the other is alcohol dependant so they won't remember one day to the next.

When we had dd1 one of my cats decided to move in with the neighbours he was 11 and had never been around children that devastated me so desperately don't want to loose another. I'm very thankfull they let me visit him and they spoil him rotten

You might not have to lose a tree. We were able to cat proof our tree by putting netting stuff to stop the cats getting up. We sent pictures of our garden to the lady that runs Securacat and she came up with ideas how to get round all the things we thought were impossible. Might be worth giving her a buzz. We paid for their fitters to install it but you can do DIY. There are plenty of other cat proofing companies too :)

Thanks so much witwoo I'm going to have a look at their website see if they operate in my neck of the woods

they'll give advice and send out DIY gets anywhere but only fit in certain areas. Personally I prefer the netting type that they do (which is barely noticeable when up) to the roller type I had the first time I did it.
