down the loo if it's not covered in litter - wouldn't want to explain that to a plumber!

sarz · 07/02/2007 17:36

plastic bag in the bin

Madoldcatlady · 09/02/2007 19:16

Biodegradable poo bags from the pet shop. It makes me mad when people use plastic bags. They will still be around, full of shit in 200 years!!!

CocoLoco · 09/02/2007 19:25

We used to use 'Worlds Best Cat Litter' as it was flushable, now it goes in the rubbish but not in a plastic bag (DH scoops the trays just before putting the rubbish out, it doesn't actually go in the kitchen bin!)

PinkTulips · 09/02/2007 21:56

well i think considering he uses his litter tray only once a months and i use washable nappies instead of disposables i'm proably putting a hell of a lot less plastic wrapped shit in the bin than most people.

can't not wrap it as dd pokes in the bin and i used to put it in the garden but we don't have one anymore.

MOCL, you do realise that those bags don't biodegrade in landfills as there isn't the right environment for it? they just get burried the same as anything else

PinkTulips · 09/02/2007 21:57

sorry for disasterous spelling..... foggy headed from being ill all week!

Nightynight · 09/02/2007 22:05

dont put ordinary cat litter in the loo, our au pair did that, the loo was horribly blocked within a few days.

Madoldcatlady · 09/02/2007 22:25

I wasn't having a go at you PinkTulips!

I have no idea why you say the biodegeradable bags don't do just that. The ones I buy break down in 10-14 days IIRC, so by the time they are removed from my wheelie bin they will be half way there.

I went for a walk recently in a beautiful area of woodland. Miles off the beaten track and a stunning environment. It was ruined by a pile of nappy sacks full of dog turds!

I mean if your dog poops in a 100 or so acre wood, where it would rot away in no time at all, why put it in a bag then dump it to remain forevermore FFS!

Madoldcatlady · 09/02/2007 22:26

I also have a foggy head due to DC being ill all week! Sorry for SPs.

PinkTulips · 09/02/2007 22:29

MOCL.... i'm basing that statemnet on the fact that biodegradable nappies don't break down in landfill as there's not the correct microbiotic environment. i could be wrong but i'm far too tired to google it tonight, lol!

sorry for getting defensive, tad touchy today!

sarz · 09/02/2007 23:36

I will look into those bags!! We have 2 cats and they use the litter tray alot, i have been putting it in the garden in the hedges, but i'm worried that in the hot summer time that will be a tad wiffy!!!
